Parts Arrived

Some v1.0 parts arrived today from the far east,

male-male usb cable for the pc to servo controller board
Mini servo to control the tilt action on v1 maybe swapped to trigger servo at later date due to size
IR webcam, picture quality is not bad in daylight, will do some night tests later.

My aim will be to knock up a very rough pan and tilt set up to get an idea how well its all going to work and test servo capability, which will be controlled through a standard 2 channel RC controller.

I will mount the camera and lazer pointer onto the pan and tilt set up, if all thats ok next will be to order the servo controller, and build a better pan&tilt mech.

Parts Ordered so far

I have just ordered the following parts for the project from ebay, initially will be trying to keep this project as cheap as possible.

Mini Servo - Trigger actuation if not using a servo switch
2m USB Cable - to link to the servo controller when purchased
USB Webcam - Cheap 5m webcam from hongkong, purchased one with IR to enable night vision
Laser Pointer - For testing motion tracking and for coolness of being laser pointed before you shot!

Need to get:

Servo Controller
A "Gun" - Probably will be a cheap electric BB gun initially.

Welcome to my sentry gun project

This is my blog to cover the design and build of an autonomous sentry gun, initially this will put together in a proof of concept.

The proof of concept will be created using some old RC car servos to control pan and tilt, mounted on a custom holder, intially controlled using a rc controller, with a webcam mounted ontop.
